Under The Sea!

On one of our miniature vacations, we spotted a few jellyfish and that got me, of course, wondering about how they all got made.  I sure didn't see many features that would attract a potential mate in those creepy little suckers hanging out just under the surface.  Since I'm not about to actually research something I don't know, we of course end up with something close to what you see to the left.

We were able to catch the movie Hall Pass recently, and even though I like Jason Sudeikis it just wasn't enough to make it an enjoyable experience.  The dorkiness factor of Owen Wilson and Sudeikis was over-exaggerated to the point of ridiculous.  To top it all off, the whole premise of 'the only reason you'll appreciate your marriage is if you try to break out of it' was not something I'd want to put in the American public's subconscious.  Ick.

Well, that should just about do it.  With no really appealing releases coming out in the next few weeks I'll be forced to see if there's anything juicy I've overlooked on Netflix.  Everyone enjoy your weekend, there's not many left in the pre-school summer!

Industrious And Cute As A Button

They are by no means as handy with construction equipment as the comic tonight suggests, but there's a family of rabbits that have moved into our backyard where a garden used to be.  It's fine with me, I'm not doing anything with the space they're living in I just hoped to get a sub-let deal out of them before they really settle down and start that huge family I'm afraid is coming.

There's not a good segue from that topic to this, so I'm using the classic bait-and-switch where I discuss it while actually providing one.

DC Comics is going to be throwing their entire universe upside down this August by restarting or rebooting virtually every title they carry.  The company will have 52 #1's all premiering in a few weeks, but unlike the Marvel Ultimate Universe won't exist at the same time as the current storylines.  Marvel itself has been a monster lately, dominating both their native print media and the big screen and TV.  DC needed to shake things up and I'm really interested to see how it goes.  I've never been a huge DC follower but between Batman and Green Lantern I'm down to give it a fair chance.

Untitled Is Still A Title

Doodlepunks world record!  Due to my possibly unstable need to stick to a Tuesday/Thursday posting schedule you have tonight's comic.

I'm also racing the clock because my computer has started doing this really cute thing when it gets overheated; the screen goes black and my speakers shout the worst noise ever made at me until I do a hard reset.  Replacement parts incoming.

We here at the Estate started watching the new season of True Blood, and I had some feedback on my feedback. "You're ruining it for me, please stop being so negative."  My negativity evaporated soon thereafter, but I was really unhappy due to the opening scene being in Fairy-land and annoying, until the scene made it's turn.  Five minutes were five too many of that, though.  I did appreciate where they took it and overall the tone of the show is right in that sweet spot between entertaining and dark.

Keeping it short tonight, because it's only fair to not force too many of my words in through your eyeballs.

Guess What I Want For Christmas

I'm so glad Marvel got to the point in the world-domineering marketing plan that I could see Captain America on the big screen.  I love the character and everything Steve Rogers stands for, and they portrayed him very well.  I didn't even mind the ex-Torch Chris Evans as Cap, he ended up being great for it.

Since seeing it on the big screen, I now can't wait to have it for the small screen.  The one where teen-aged projectionists don't take a nap or play on their iPhone so much they don't notice the 3d movie is out of focus for the entire theater.  I had a headache and my wife got a migraine.  You're not doing a great job of convincing me not to pirate media, movie theater.

Over the weekend we watched The Beast on Netflix and we both ended up really enjoying the show.  It had a dark tone like The Shield, one of our favorite shows.  Patrick Swayze was obviously not doing too well throughout the season though.  It was clear every time he walked and his head shook like a bobble-head or in the later episodes where he was stationary or his action did not require him to move.  Felt a little FDR to us, but he still delivered his lines through it and made you forget about his illness frequently.

Probably the last time we'll get the chance to check out the Atlantic this summer's rapidly approaching, and I'm looking forward to the hopefully peaceful time.

I'll Sleep When I'm Rezzing!

My wife puts up with a lot of my video game talk, questions about what she thinks it funny and in general just a lot of putting-up-with what I think is comedy around the house.  That's why the comic to the left is an exaggeration, because I know she would kill me and take whatever meager possessions I would have left.

The content was honest though, Star Wars: The Old Republic was available for preorder this morning and I have my code already entered into their site and am awaiting the release date.  That's right, though I've preordered, I have no idea what day I'll actually be entering a galaxy far, far away to smuggle my way across space.

I'm having a really good week thus far, despite the overwhelming heat that's hitting everyone.  When mowing this week, my hands kept sliding off the handle from all the sweat.  Near the end I thought I was at the beach from all the saltwater that poured into my burning eyes.  It was a hoot!

Enjoy your weekend, I know I'll be hitting a matinee of Captain America and doing some grilling sometime.  Summer, more like Funner (amiright?)
