Finally Using My Degree!

I love Angry Birds; it's simple enough where I can downshift my brain for awhile but still engaging enough that I can drain my Droid's battery constantly.  Presented for your pleasure is my small homage.

E3 '11 is coming up in just two short weeks.  I have a very hard time with the news that comes out of these expos because it does get my excited but nothing tangible comes from it for months afterwards at the earliest.  That said, Battlefield 3, Mass Effect 3, Modern Warfare 3, Batman: Arkham City, The Old Republic and Gears of War 3 will all get some attention that I'll be glad to stay updated on them.

Memorial Day has passed, so don't thank the troops anymore.  Completely kidding of course, I support our soldiers completely, if not the places they find themselves being sent.  They face the baddies so I don't have to and I take that seriously.

On the homefront, however, the family had a grand ole' time around my grill and I even added a recipe to the arsenal for years to come.  Look out, fishies.  I hope that your time was spent well and you're refreshed and ready for this next haul until Independence Day.  Post a comment, tell me a funny story about your break and maybe I'll blatantly rip it off and illustrate it on this very site!

Everyone Gets A Brand New Car!

You get a car and You get a car!  Remember when that was a big deal?  Before she started to give houses away like they were advice, it was huge to get an audience together and give them all cars.  It also probably didn't cost her anything at all from the advertising of giving the same car to a hundred or so people.

My take on her leaving network television is presented right there.  I think that Oprah will make a lot of money with her own network, but it's pretty obvious it won't be her in front of the camera driving the entire thing.  My guess is that the majority of housewives won't make the switch to her new channel but I am very interested to see.

My most sincere apologies for interrupting the flow I had with regular posting the past few months.  At the absolute worst time power was out in my neighborhood for over a day preventing an upload and following that Memorial Day weekend ripped me away from my desk.  It really weighed on me until I just uploaded and I'm glad to be caught up, though inexcusably late.

I've got a salmon to go prepare for grilling, hopefully I don't destroy it.  Let me know if and how you're enjoying your time off in a comment below!

Names Have Been Changed To Protect The Innocent

Coming right at you we have a new comic!  The content comes from a paraphrased real conversation that my wife was having over the phone.  Monumentally unlucky for her I was in earshot and could watch her face fall as she realized her fatal mistake.  It would have been unkind of me to point and laugh in her face: so I didn't point.

All kidding aside the fact that she lets me laugh at/with her is one of the things that really makes what we have work.

Have you been catching any of the new HBO series Game of Thrones?  It's from a fantasy series written by George R.R. Martin (I'm going to assume that stands for RailRoad) and has castles and kingdoms, creatures, kings, and pet Dire Wolves!  These domesticated beasts have me itching for a dog like I've got fleas.

In other news, check out the video below.  It's a short trailer for the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.  I completely wish I was a sell-out and got paid to show it to you, but I still think it looks pretty cool.  While the online play seems to attract the scummiest of the gamer underbelly, I've got to see the wildly crazy story through to the end.  Enjoy:

It Really Is Easy

Disclaimer: my wife now totally understands how to get where she wants to go with most of our entertainment outlets.  This did take some coaching and my comic reflects that more than the current state of affairs.

Now that I'm in no danger of staying in the guest room (and never was), I'm finding it hard to believe this week is nearly full-circle already.  Perhaps that's because it's been as depressing as clown college in the weather department.

I found a decent site I'm going to share with you guys : Do Nothing For 2 Minutes.  It's just as advertised, with the intent to get us to chill out for just a precious series of seconds.  I found when doing it that time seemed to slow down a bit, and there were no complaints from me on that one.

I've been noticing a good amount of traffic to the site but comments are low.  It's a comic, I expect that, not whining.  While I am busy working and creating content, I do want to encourage community so I'm looking for a solution that fits where I want this to go.  Keeping that in mind, please do rate the posts and comment, even if it's to suggest other ratings for comics for inclusion.

This is the very rough bare bones part of the journey, before I get my montage and win the state championships or whatever.  I appreciate all the attention I've received thus far very much.

When You Just Have To Know

Hooray, we managed to doodle and post a comic tonight guys!  We did that together, I'm so proud of us!

With my recent return to StumbleUpon and the zombified brain state it seems to put me in, the world will never know how close it came to not seeing this beautiful piece of art.

In the next month or so you'll most likely start to see a different look not only to the blog (thanks for the positive feedback on the new look), but also to the content.  I'm excited to see what happens once I start stepping my game up, possibly even going full-color!  The snarkier of my readers would point out that they are already full-color, but what I mean is that it will be many colors rather than the lonely shade each comic.

In Star Wars news I've been rewatching the prequels lately, and I think my initial excitement just to see more Star Wars clouded my judgement from seeing how Lucas' tone changed so dramatically from the originals.  His need to create (terrible) comedy to appeal to younger audiences (Jar Jar, etc.) grates terribly.  I love the universe, I love the fiction and I still love the movies, but don't think I didn't notice you slacking Lucas.

Ugh, apologies for the unnecessary rant there.  I hope that you all enjoy tonight's comic, the cool weather and anything that brings out your smiles.

The Farce Unleashed

Happy weekend to you, Lords and Ladies!  Apologies for the late posting, but Blogger was down last night when I had my comic ready to post and I didn't get a chance until now to fill Thursday's slot.  I guess that comes with using a free service to start your empire, but I'm sure we'll all get used to it.

Tonight's comic comes to you not from a real conversation but one I hope I never have to recite.  Every time we have people over who haven't had the chance to see our place, the obligatory tour ensues.  On this tour, we always seem to end with my office, which is increasingly becoming a space solely for me with the different posters and books and furniture choices I have in here.  There's always that twinge of nerd anxiety whenever someone else gets to see your stash of greatness.

The main goal tonight is to talk my better half into seeing Thor either tonight or tomorrow.  I've been hearing good things and the box office had a decent showing.  It also helps that I'm an aspiring comic book nerd and devour anything in that vein that hits the theaters.  I'm just hoping they focus on the Heroes Reborn Thor for the movie model and not Siege-era Thor.  So far Marvel's been doing pretty well with updating certain facts about their heroes to bring them into today's world without throwing away the actual origin stories entirely, so fingers crossed.

So, now that only two people are still reading this, I'll bid you all adieu.  Take the time this weekend to read a couple chapters of that book you've got sitting under the thinnest veil of dust, take a nap, catch some movies, but just enjoy the down time with what I'm imagining will be some pretty sleepy weather the next few days.

Right, New "Intel"

It's a new day, it's a new dawn, it's a new comic!  I just couldn't resist getting in on last week's big news.  By couldn't resist I of course mean that it came to me randomly and I just threw it together quickly.

Most of my readers come from the facebooking world, but for those that don't there is an add-on to your mobiles that allows you to 'check in' at places to let people know were you are.  The idea of the mysterious source Barack's Seal's have been relying on the past few months in their search led me where you see.

In landscaping news at the Garthwaite Ranch, I took a hatchet to a fir tree out front because a large piece of it was just getting out of hand.  This of course now gives me a mutated tree to present to the community showing them that I have no idea what I'm doing but that won't stop me.  Also in the outdoors vein, I'm loving the weather this past week and try to enjoy as much of it as I can.  I know the dog days are just around the bend and I'm not interested in spending my entire first year inside the house.

Also on the horizon is pricing out a new video card for my beast here.  I've got an eye towards running The Old Republic when it comes out but also want a card that won't rattle constantly and overheat after six or more hours continuous use.  I'm already checking out newegg.com but if there are any suggested sources let me know.

British Accents Are Fascinating

Good eventide to you all!  Tonight's comic comes to you with a Shyamalan-ian twist.  If there was another panel you would have also found out quite a revelation.  Too bad that we'll never get to the bottom of it.

It's been a fairly quiet week thus far and I'm hoping that it can continue right on through the weekend being that way.  Hopefully this will give me some time to workshop ideas for future comics and the site where Doodlepunks will eventually call home.

One of my largest hopes is to eventually have enough people checking in that I'll be able to facilitate discussion or meetings between artists and writers to make their own creations.  It would be awesome to host a place where people can come together for a similar purpose and post their results so the community can help encourage and direct.  I know I need that so my perspective doesn't get too insular.

Irregardlessiticity, I hope that you are all doing well and that the peek into my brains you get twice a week doesn't make you run for the hills.

Baker's Dozen!

Lucky 13!  Tonight's episode is brought to you by the poor security standards of the Playstation Network.  Luckily I own an XBox, so I feel for the people who's information is now floating out there for whatever purpose.

The worst part for most gamers is just the interruption to service.  I know a few years ago I would have just been happy someone wanted my info, they could have just asked.

On another note, I thought that April showers were supposed to bring May flowers.  So far it's just been May rain, further contributing to muddy, rainy grossness.  I hope that I'm proven wrong very shortly.

I've also been playing the Gears of War 3 beta lately and have some conflicting feelings.  On the one hand I'm very excited for the story wrapping up and experiencing that online with some good friends of mine.  However on the flip side, the multiplayer aspect doesn't do anything for me.  The skillset needed isn't one I really ever cared to cultivate.  Pretty much the flavor I've tasted from every Epic game so far.  Luckily they'll get my money so it's not hardly even worth bringing up but I thought I would share with my faithful readers.

Have a good week, fingers crossed we'll get the chance to go out and experience some life this weekend.
